Global Brigades is working on the implementation of the Holistic Model in Palo Blanco but has not yet begun with the Medical Program. Now in the planning phase, the community will soon be evaluated as a candidate for Medical/Dental Brigades and the Community Health Worker (CHW) program.
Palo Blanco is located within the municipality of Villa de San Antonia in the department of Comayagua in central Honduras. The typical house is made of adobe or cement blocks. Children in the community have access to primary school. There is a mixed water system that includes a water tank and pump. Most of the community members work in agriculture and day labor. The top needs expressed by Palo Blanco’s inhabitants during their initial communications with Global Brigades include medical care, improvement of the water system, and public health infrastructure.
