Global Medical Brigades is seeking an intern to virtually support the Growth Team during the 2024-2025 academic year. The Volunteer Engagement Intern will assist the Growth Team 5-10 hours per week by conducting student outreach, coordinating meetings and events, and identifying and engaging student leaders to establish and join Global Medical Brigades chapters. The Volunteer Engagement Intern reports directly to the Growth Manager (Madison Sweitzer.) This position is unpaid, however interns who have successfully completed at least 1 semester of the internship will receive a brigade scholarship.
Responsibilities include but not limited to: (opens in a new tab)
Student Outreach and Engagement (70%)
- Assist in outreach to students via phone, email, video conferencing, webinars, social media, and in person to promote Global Medical Brigades’ mission.
- Engage with potential student volunteers, catering to their unique needs and encouraging them to become chapter leaders.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of outreach activities and student engagements.
Meeting and Event Coordination (20%)
- Coordinate and schedule meetings and events related to volunteer engagement, including webinars, information sessions, and recruitment events.
- Support the planning and execution of events to attract and engage student volunteers.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth logistics and effective communication for events.
Chapter Development and Support (10%)
- Identify and recruit student leaders to establish new Global Medical Brigades chapters.
- Provide support and resources to new chapter leaders to help them navigate the chapter creation process.
- Maintain strong relationships with established chapters, encouraging leadership transitions and continued involvement.
Minimal Requirements:
- Verbal and written fluency in English required
- Previous experience with Global Brigades or other international volunteer programs preferred
- Experience with CRM (Hubspot) is preferred
- Strong communication skills; able to work in a virtual environment
- Available to attend weekly meetings and work virtually 5-10 hours per week
- Organized and have excellent time management skills
Compensation and Logistics:
- Interns who successfully complete at least 1 semester of the internship are eligible for a brigade scholarship.
