Consult Micro-Enterprises Abroad
Empowered Business Consultants travel abroad on 7-10 day business trips to Panama, Greece, Ghana, or Belize to consult local entrepreneurs and implement deliverables that help their businesses grow.
Consulting Activities
Consult Small Businesses
Students utilize business consulting frameworks to identify opportunities for increased income and resolve financial challenges of small rural businesses (Panama, Belize, Ghana) or small businesses owned by migrants and refugees (Greece). Students help small businesses decide on the feasibility of utilizing low-interest loans or creating a savings strategy to reach their economic goals.
Strengthen Community-Owned Banks
Empowered Consultants provide capacity building workshops to the leaders of community banks (when applicable based on program country) to increase membership, improve operations and identify lower risk borrowers. Consultants help add member savings accounts and ensure high repayment on loans.
Teach Financial Literacy
Students conduct financial planning workshops for members of the community bank and other small business owners with the goal of increasing financial literacy. Businesses that are seeking capital can work with consultants to develop a payment plan and decide if it’s beneficial to take a loan.
Provide Capital for Loans
Each Empowered Consulting Program helps raise money to invest into the businesses or community banks that they will support. These funds ensure access to capital for new businesses and banks that can be utilized for matching savings accounts, low-interest loans or other community projects.
